About Me

I’m the Creative Director/co-founder of The ScareHouse in Pittsburgh – named as one of America’s Best Haunted Houses by Travel Channel, Fangoria, and Haunted Attraction magazine.  I’m also a freelance producer, editor, and writer who has worked within the world of local TV in one form or another since the early 90′s.

I suppose you could call me a polyhyphenate. Or a hustler. Your choice. I’m not here to judge.

Everybody is special. Everybody. Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain, everybody. Everybody has their story to tell. (Alan Moore, V for Vendetta)

I have magazine subscriptions to both Esquire and Rue Morgue.  I have purchased both Pinocchio and Crank 2 on dvd.  I regularly listen to both Fiona Apple and Rob Zombie.

This is my way of saying that the content of this blog will likely be extremely difficult to easily stereotype and/or categorize.

The ScareHouse has an official blog, “Behind The Scenes” page, and YouTube channel all devoted to the year-long process of creating our elaborate haunted attraction …. but very little opportunity for me to unleash highly detailed arguments about the genius of Black Dynamite.

Or to talk about current events in Pittsburgh, pop culture, and the “real world” outside of our haunted house.

Or to look back at my years in the trenches of local news promotion.

Or post photos of our cat in a funny hat.

There are stories of coincidence and chance, of intersections and strange things told, and which is which and who only knows? And we generally say, “Well, if that was in a movie, I wouldn’t believe it.” Someone’s so-and-so met someone else’s so-and-so and so on. And it is in the humble opinion of this narrator that strange things happen all the time. And so it goes, and so it goes. And the book says, “We may be through with the past, but the past ain’t through with us.” (PT Anderson, Magnolia)
